Veruca hates Chocolate

Julie Dwan Cole's true reaction from doing this take. She said:
During the 'Pure Imagination' segment, we were given Wonka's consent to venture out and sample the sweet candy terrain. But despite my character's quest for a lifetime supply of chocolate, in reality, I hated it. In one shot, Veruca was required to smash a polystyrene watermelon against a rock and then scoop the gooey chocolate by hand to devour its contents greedily. The taste of this runny-textured chocolate gloop was so disgusting that I could barely force myself to eat it, much less pretend that I was enjoying it. Mel was screaming through his bullhorn: 'Come on Julie, act like you're enjoying it!' and I would snap back: 'But I'm NOT enjoying it!' By the time this scene was completed, I felt ill from ingesting this chocolate-flavored nastiness.
