On May 28, 1914 (a year before the Lusitania) the Empress of Ireland left Quebec City Canada to Liverpool England with 1477 passengers and crew. But less than ten hours later at 1:55 a.m. exactly North of Sanite-Luce Grave near Rimouski, the Empress of Ireland collided with a coal carrier called the Storstad because of fog. The Storstad didn't sink but the Empress did. The ship had enough lifeboats, but it didn't had enough time, because the Empress sank in 14 MINUTES. 465 people survived the sinking, while 1012 were killed. And that's not the worst of it, there were 138 children on board that ship and only 4 SURVIVED. This makes it the worst maritime disaster in Canadian History.
